This year we had an impressive amount of submissions for the Camile Pahwa Scholarship Fund, which resulted in 6 awards for College, Camp and Continuing Education Classes.  Awards totaled $5,750 and were announced to each recipient in May 2017.

Camp

Elijah Miner, 2nd Grade.  Prairie Commons Apts.

Elijah will attend summer camp offered through the city of Mesquite.  Elijah likes to play basketball and go swimming; his favorite subject in school is science.

College or University:

Analyssa M. Gonzales, Senior at Mathis High School. Mariposa Gardens Apts. 

Analyssa will attend Texas A&M in Kingsville to pursue a degree in Biomedical Science. She is an accomplished powerlifter and is active in her church youth group.   

Catherine Turner, Senior at Mabank High School. Bluestone Apartments. 

Catherine will attend Southwestern Assemblies of God University, where she has been accepted and will be playing soccer. She has been active in many charitable fund raising activities such as the Wounded Warrior Project, Ronald McDonald house, etc., and is also active with her youth groups.

Continuing/Adult Education

Rina Pokhrelbhandari, Bluestone Apartments. 

Rina is a 2016 scholarship recipient attending Trinity Community College in Athens with plans to attend University of Texas Tyler’s nursing program in January 2018. 

Arsenia “Zenni” El-Assad, Wildflower Terrace. 

Arsenia is a retiree interested taking Arabic and French classes at Austin Community College. She is a self-described lifelong learner with a passion for self-improvement. 

Jean Crawford, Wildflower Terrace.

Jean is a disabled retiree interested in taking computer classes at the AGE of Central Texas Computer Lab.  Jean is an extremely active and engaged in the community.
